Sometimes, life just goes slower. In light of this, I am implementing these "fun facts" posts about my new life - for those seasons where there just isn't as much to write about.

Wendy's is slowly but surely becoming my favorite American restaurant while here. You just can't beat the number eight combo (chicken sandwich) with french fries and a Coke.
I walk two miles almost every day to get to school - one there, one back. I will literally be able to tell my children that "I had to walk a mile to school everyday..."
Oswald, my two year old host brother, knows my name now and is obsessed with Mr. Raccoon. He also crawls into my lap in the mornings to drink his milk while I eat breakfast and it melts my heart every time.
Sharing one bathroom with four other people isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Learning Spanish continues to be a source of joy. What grace and an answered prayer.
I'm convinced the coffee that my host mom, Olga, makes literally the best coffee in all of Costa Rica. I tell her it's because it is "hecho con amor" - "made with love".

"The Messiah will be like a refiner of silver. In the refining process, heat is applied. The silver and the impurities separate. The pure silver settles to the bottom and the impurities arise to the top where they can be skimmed off. It brings impurities to the surface so they can be removed. "The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart" (Proverbs 17:3). Do you see? What a crucible does for silver and what a furnace does for gold, God does for the heart." -Jennifer Kennedy Dean
